goodbye jeans

learning to live without my default, well-worn choice of comfort

Day 14-18

Posted by bmkeeler on September 30, 2009

Last week was INSANE…hence, my delayed posts. For the most part, here’s what went down clothing-wise:

MONDAY:

Day 14

Day 14

This bubble skirt is great…plus any skirt/dress that has pockets is an absolute winner in my book.

TUESDAY:

Day 15

Day 15

I bought these patent red flats when I was in France…seriously, one of my favorite purchases…ever! I’m also loving my new light gray cords.

WEDNESDAY:

Day 16

Day 16

The funniest thing about Wednesday was that I matched another lady in the office…and we sat by each other in a meeting most of the day.

THURSDAY:

                                                                      Day 17
Day 17

If you hadn’t already noticed…this was my “bumble bee” day. Normally I try not to wear black and yellow together for this exact reason….but this is what happens when I dress before I’m fully awake. Brings a whole new level to “queen bee”…

FRIDAY:

Day 18

Day 18

So…yeah, on Friday I wore a light blue button up shirt with a white tank, classic khakis and white flats….and my director wore a light blue button-up and khaki pants. Throughout the day, we were teased about our coordinating attire…one co-worker asked if we had a tennis doubles match at the country club after work…and another nicknamed us Buffy and Biff for the day. I have no problem with being called Buffy…as long as this is the mental association.

Day 13

Posted by bmkeeler on September 18, 2009

I swear…it’s like game day in our office today..and I LOVE it!! This week soooo many people are wearing their burnt orange and white…and I am one of those many!

Day 13

Day 13

So this outfit is pretty much cheating for me….because this is totally what I would wear as the average college student. My UT pullover and cropped khakis are about as casual as it comes.  But at least I wore white flats and not flip flops!!

PS – I love UT football….it makes me feel like this:

Day 12

Posted by bmkeeler on September 17, 2009

Today I wore an avocado green 3/4 sleeve tee with charcoal dress slacks…the outfit pretty much looked like this:

Day 12

Day 12

However, as much as I love the color of this tee I really don’t like the second-skin nature of this shirt. It hugs the body just a little too tightly for my comfort….which causes the tee to create some questionable silhouettes.

It may be time to go up a size in pants…these particular slacks left little room for things like breathing or eating. However, I’m holding out on purchasing new pants…mainly because I have a conspiracy theory that pants in general are retaliating for my hiatus from one of their kind (ie. jeans). Just see my Day 9 post if you don’t believe me.

Day 11

Posted by bmkeeler on September 16, 2009

I seriously overslept this morning…which I place full blame on my alarm clock (which also happens to be my cell phone…two strikes). You see, if my alarm clock (phone) would have been a little more persistent…maybe I would have made it to work on time. Instead, I woke up in a panic and threw on this little navy, empire-waisted sheath dress.

Day 11

Day 11

Not the wisest choice for a chilly office setting. But I do have to give my alarm (phone) some credit…it had started making these really sad little beeps that eventually roused me…I think it knew I would hold it personally responsible. But I did take my revenge later when I “accidentally” dropped my phone (alarm) in the office kitchen. Maybe it learned it’s lesson.

Day 10

Posted by bmkeeler on September 15, 2009

I wore my Gap soft pink tee and Target grey petal skirt (I LOVE this skirt) today. This skirt always seems to be a conversation starter…and it looks way more expensive than it is (double bonus). It’s like a piece of art:

Day 10

Day 10

However the downside of the petal skirt is that the backside looks like this (after sitting in the office all day long):

the other side

Looking more like a crushed petal skirt…not so pretty anymore.

Day 9

Posted by bmkeeler on September 14, 2009

I was pretty excited about wearing my new Gap Hip Slung Khakis today (the top…eh, not so much). My granny gave me the pants as a birthday gift [ie. she gave me the cash to go shopping, and this is what I bought with the money].

But before I further comment on my pants…let me discuss my shirt. Every time I wear this top (and I forget this until I’m actually wearing it)…I feel like a milkmaid. I’m not really sure why I have this mental association, considering milkmaids probably don’t sport plaid, deep-V, pouffy sleeve, baby-doll style blouses….but I do. Therefore to mimic my imagination…(cue yodelers)…this picture should have been taken in a picturesque field featuring Heidi roaming around in the background with a goat or something.

Day 9

Day 9

Now, let’s talk about these slacks….I have two big issues with these pants:

1. Even though I purchased these pants approximately two weeks ago, and they fit perfectly…they are now practically a size too big. Most people would be delighted with this revelation…but this just ticks me off.

2. The pants make a “wheeeeeeet wheeeet wheeeeeeet” sound when I walk (think of the sound that corduroy makes [or the squeal of a small pig]…it’s fairly similar to that…but [possibly] more annoying). I find myself blushing as I scurry down the hallways….especially since walking faster only amplifies the problem. Instead, a slow mosey (waddling like a bow-legged cowboy) is the most questionable, yet best result-driven option. I just don’t mosey well.

All of this combined makes me feel like this:

    Milkmaid-esque, sound-effect-making Monday

    Milkmaid-esque, sound-effect-making Monday

    Happy Monday!

    Day 8

Posted by bmkeeler on September 11, 2009

Thank God it is FRIDAY!! Today I decided to wear khaki capris (c’mon…it’s casual Friday!) with a pink wrap top and tank..

    Day 8

    Day 8

It was such a slacker day….with a ridiculous amount of sweets. I don’t know how or why but somehow, before 10:00am had even rolled around, I had consumed a Chickfila biscuit, a brownie AND a chocolate chip and nut cookie …and even MORE goodies were offered to me (which I gracefully declined). It was like overdose-on-sugar day or something…not that I’m complaining…I’m definitely a fan.

    Day 7

Posted by bmkeeler on September 10, 2009

Still not in the mood to be photographed….hence the photo of my black pants, wedges and a black & white shirt…

    Day 7

    Day 7

It was definitely a smart move to wear dress slacks (and I even ended up wearing a teal cardigan for most of the day), because the office was super cold again today. I think that the office thermostats haven’t been adjusted since the weather changed. Therefore…we’re still keeping it cool for the 100+ degree weather….not the current mid-80 temps.

    Day 6

Posted by bmkeeler on September 9, 2009

Today was pretty much a just-make-it-through-the-day day for me…I feel awful (courtesy of my lovely allergies), and I was beyond tired when I got up this morning…which means khaki shorts and one of my UIL polos.

    Day 6

    Day 6

Unfortunately, my brain is fuzzy (due to the Benadryl I just took)…so I’m going to peace out before all my coherent thoughts leave me.

    Day 5

Posted by bmkeeler on September 9, 2009

My Old Navy Black trapeze-style dress is my go-to option when I’m clueless on what to wear. And for the Tuesday after Labor Day, it was the perfect choice. I didn’t feel like being photographed today so instead I made this sketch…

    Day 5

    Day 5

The main issue that I’m having is that it is ridiculously cold in my office…and dresses are not exactly cold-friendly. I’m debating on whether or not I should invest in a small blanket or personal heater. OR a fire pit. OR maybe I should just wear leggings.
